THE
BEST RELIGION
Everyone regard her/his religion is
the best religion. There
are six religion in Indonesia (Penetapan Presiden Republik Indonesia No 1/PNPS Tahun 1965, 1965)
:
1. Islam
2. Christian
3. Catholic
4. Hindu
5. Buddha
6. Confucius
Every religion has their purpose which is to avoid evil and doing well,
for live in unified harmony,
in peace, and in love with our fellow human beings. (Aaqil, 2010).
If every religion has good purpose so what
is the
best religion? in the dialogue
between Dr Leonardo Boff and The Dalai
Lama, Dalai Lama say that “ The best religion is the one that gets you closest
to God. It is the one that makes you a better person” (ohlifelessons, 2010).
If someone will force
everyone be the same with her/his religion, it will make a massacres among
religious people. Everyone must know almost every religion have a good doctrine
and the religion is a guideline to live in peace and mutual respect. About the case of violence in the name of
religion, and also the case of terrorism that caused a inability of human
beings to absorb the true meaning of his religion. And how does everyone
interpret his/her religion. it's the fundamental reasons that make a violence
in the name of religion.
And in inscription
of king Ashoka it is written as follows.
whoever
wanted to glorify their own religion by denouncing other religions, it would be
detrimental to one's own religion and also detrimental to the development of
other religions, therefore, tolerance and harmony is highly recommended, so
that there are peace, tranquility, and peace in society. Therefore everyone will not only respect her/his religion and Condemn
other religions without a strong foundation. Instead religions of others too
should be respected on the basis of certain principles (Dhammika, 2006, pp. 25-26).
From
the contents of the inscription we
can
contemplate that fact, if we respect to other religions, actually we're glorifying our own religion;if we to demonize
other religions in order to glorify our religion, that will only make the name
of our religion to be bad
In
the perspective of Buddhism,religious people must be in harmony. The Buddha does not claims Buddhist to be the number one
religion, because Buddhism wants human beings to choose their own religion by
understanding, not by force especially the threat.
As
Buddhists, we are supposed to share our love to all human beings without
distinction of religion.
